    Mobile map applications have become an indispensable part of our daily lives, serving as essential tools for navigation, information gathering and orientation. In this master thesis, the author ... focuses on Apple Maps, Apple's default navigation application with the aim to address and resolve its most critical user interface issues. Through the utilization of heuristic analysis and usability tests, this study delves deeper into the specifics of the usability problems encountered by users. The study unearthed issues related to the misplacement of user interface elements, which led to misguided user interactions. It also identified non-user-friendly icon sizes and the resulting frustration stemming from icon interpretation. In addition, the study sheds light on the challenges users face during the (location) search process in the application. The identified issues are addressed through a redesign of the loading-, navigation menu-, searching-, navigation- and map screens. The redesign of high-fidelity wireframe screens has been created in the interface design tool Figma, adopting a design style that closely resembles that of Apple Maps, to illustrate the applied value of potential improvements of the user interface in the mobile application.
