    The influence of various superplasticizer amounts and addition of amorphous cast iron ribbons is studied with regard to the compressive strength of cementitious materials.This preliminary study ... proposes a method using automatic image analysis to characterize qualitatively and quantitively the macroporosity as it is closely related to their mechanical properties.The results obtained from automatic image analysis and normalized compression tests on ordinary and ribbon reinforced concrete cylinders showed the existence of an optimum superplasticizer amount correlated with the best compressive strength measured on a series.This optimum corresponds with a minimum pore fraction, (Aa), pore number, (Na), and with a maximum pore spacing factor, (L).It was also shown that the ribbon reinforcement increases the porosity, changes the mean pore size and influences the pore anisotropy.
