  • Responsibility as a socialization problem [Elektronski vir]
    Godina, Vesna V.
In my presentation I will discuss a responsibility as a socialization problem, that is as a problem. Evidence in Western and American societies shows at least three facts: first, that individual and ... collective responsibility is connected with a type of children socialization; second, that among youth in contemporary Western and American societies responsibility is not understood as an important topic; and third, that responsibility does not govern individual and collective behaviour of young people in contemporary Western and American societies any more. I will show how this "lack of responsibility" is produced with so called narcissistic socialization in Western and American societies. The narcissistic socialization with its characteristics prolongs children's infantilism. That means that a behaviour, which was in former Western and American societies characteristic for small children, is in present Western and American societies tolerated among older children and youth. The same is true for a "lack of responsibility"; a "lack of responsibility", which was in former Western and American societies characteristic for small children, is now an important characteristic of young people in contemporary Western and American societies.
