    UNIOR Zrece, is the only producer of sintered steel parts in Slovenia designed for automotive industry. Constant improvement of the mechanical properties or implementation of additional surface ... protection to the heavy-duty sintered steel products is required. First of all this can be implemented by the reduction of the sintered steel parts' porosity and by increasing their bearing cross section, respectively. Therefore, automatic, uni-axial warm (100 - 150°C) compaction of steel powders in steel dies has been developed. Also, the basic principles of this technology are old and well known, it has only become an established technology in the last decade. The R&D phase of our project was finacially supported by the Slovenian Ministry of Science and Technology. At the conference, laboratory and industrial experiments of warm compaction of selected Fe-based powder mixture will be presented. A comparison between the microstructural/mechanical properties of a cold and warm compacted/sintered steel product (safety locker of a steering wheel) will also be presented.
