  • The development of professional competencies : the educator as a reflective practioner in tertiary education

    This paper focuses on the importance of the shift in education towards a social- constructivist, competency based approach. Regarding tertiary education the authors advocate the idea of ... professionalism as a qualitative breakthrough in the contemporary perception of the profession of an educator in early childhood and preschool. To that effect, they expect trainee teachers and educators to be trained as researchers of learning processes and become themselves creators of knowledge.
