    Transplantation of organs and tissues is in spite of huge advance in surgical techniques still ambiguous. The major disadvantage of transplantation threatens from immune response oriented toward the ... foreign tissue antigens. Inthe paper problems linked to the heterogeneity of major histocompatibility antigens and type of immune response directed against them are presented. In continuation of discussion results of two recent studies on immune response inpatients succeeding the kidney transplantation are displayed. In srrmmary short overview of efficacy of transplantation is given together with review ofmedical, psychosocial, and economic problems associated with organization oftransplantation service.
