    A researcher should be inspired and motivated by a certain moment or event in order to successfully conduct a research. Therefore I was motivated to write about this thesis, having into account the ... fact that the conflict in Kosovo had tremendous consequences. Conflict in Kosovo resulted with 13.500 murdered people, and 6400 missing persons (currently 1652). After the war only few of the war crime perpetrators were sentenced while many of them are still at liberty or were never persecuted. The war in Kosovo was marked with the big number of killed civilians, destroyed houses and burned villages. The endured suffering and pain during the war left behind the unrepeatable emotional consequences for the people in Kosovo. It seems that 19 years were not sufficient to bring justice for the victims by prosecuting the perpetrators before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, also international and local prosecutors and judges. This diploma thesis will show the statistics and theoretical analyses of the role of the international and local courts in treatment of the war crime cases during the 1998-1999 in Kosovo. So far, war crimes trials in general were not satisfactorily effective. These trials were even irrationally prolonged due to the factors, which will beelaborated within this diploma work. As a working method, I have used the analytical method, statistics, observation and comparative method.
