    The syndrome of stress cardiomyopathy is a novel urgent cardiac syndrome consisting of emotional stress followed by sudden chest pain, ECG changes (mimicking acute myocardial infarction), minimal ... myocardial enzymatic release,normal coronary angiogram with the most important feature being acute,reversible, transiently stunned myocardium (cardiomyopathy) with a very good prognosis. The left ventricle is pathognomonically shaped with a hyperkinetic narrow neck and an akinetic round-base flask shape with transiently severely impaired left ventricular systolic function. Because of the left ventricular shape, this syndrome has many different technical names (Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, syndrome of apical ballooning), while the media stress folk observation of cardiac death after emotional stress in broken-heart syndrome.
