  • Numerical modelling of flexible polymers as the adhesive for FRPs [Elektronski vir]
Kwiecień, Arkadiusz ; Gams, Matija, gradbeništvo ; Zając, BogusŁaw
The paper deals with modelling of deformable polymers, which can be used as the matrix/adhesive for applying FRPs to various building materials, such as timber, concrete and masonry. First, the ... theoretical background and governing equations of hyperelastic materials are presented. In addition to Seth-Hill family of strains, the Dariani-Naghdabadi family of strains is also considered. The equations are implemented into a 3D finite element code and the results of numerical simulations on dogbone and joint specimens tested in tension are compared to experimental results. Using minimization of differencebetween the responses of experimental and numerical simulations, theparameters defining strain measure in the Dariani-Naghdabadi formulation are determined. The carried out analysis showed that numerical simulations using logarithmic strains are accurate up to 5-10% elongation and the new formulation is accurate until collapse at about 40% strain.
