  • Vpliv koncentracije tirotropina na prekrvitev v ščitnici pri bolnikih s hashimotovim tiroiditisom
    Fister, Nina
BACKGROUND. There is evidence thyrotropin (TSH) has stimulating effects on thyroidal endothelial cells in vitro. Angiogenesis promoted in this way could be the reason for increased blood flow in the ... thyroid. Data on the thyroid blood flow in homogeneous, untreated groups of patients with different degreesof hypothyroidism are relatively few. AIM. We studied the probable parametres affecting increased thyroid vasculaxity with the aid of Colour flowdoppler sonography. We also evaluated the reliability of this method in the diagnosis of thyroid diseases. Our focus was a larger group of patients than used in similar studies. HYPOTHESES. I. The degree of vascularity in the thyroid gland is increasing relatively to the increasing concentration of TSH.II. The degree of vascularity is increasing correlatively with increasing levels of thyroid peroxidase autoantibodies (antiTPO) and/or xhyroglobulin antibodies (antiTg). METHODS. The focus of our random consecutive patients study was a group of 236 new1y diagnosed patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. They visited the Department of Clinical Nuclear Medicine in Clinical centre in Ljubljana, where clinical examination with Color flow Doppler sonography (CFDS) was performed. Blood samples were also collected andtested for TSH, antiTPO and antiTg. Normal level of TSH is between 0,35 and5,5 mE/L. Positive concentrations of antoTPO end antiTg are above 60 KE/L. We assessed the Colour flow Doppler pattern in gredes from O to III and measured the peak systolic velocity (PSV) at the level of intrathyroid arteries. We compared gained data and laboratory findings and calculated the correlation between them using Student t-test and p<0,05 was considered statistically significant.
