    Fister, Petja ; Dragoš, Vlasta
Perianal streptococcal dermatitis is a superficial bacterial skin infection ofthe perianal region that mainly affects children. Group A beta-haemolytic streptococcus is the most common causative ... agent. Sharply demarcated erythema of the perianal skin, with painful fissuring and blood traces in the stool, are typical. The disease can also affect the external genitalia. A bacterial swab is essential for the correct diagnosis. A systemic antistreptococcal antibiotic for 14 - 21 days plus topical antibiotics lead to a complete cure. Urine analysis is important for detection of poststreptococcal glomerulonefritis.
