  • Tumorji ledvičnih celic - morfološke in biološke značilnosti = Renal cell tumours - their morphologic characteristics and biologic behaviour
    Mašera, Andrej
The renal cell tumours (adenomas, oncocytomas and adenocarcinomas) are neoplasms arising from the tubular epithelium of the kidney. They are classified according to three principal characteristics: ... the tumour cell type, the growth pattern and cytological grading of anaplasia. Regarding the tumour cell we distinguish clear, chromophilic (basophilic, eosinophilic), oncocytic and spindle-shaped/pleomorphic cell type. Actually, each renal cell tumour is named with regard to the predominant cell type within it. The tumorous cells are arranged in some different growth patterns, i. e. the solid-compact, acinar, tubulopapillary and cystic. The cytological grading of anaplasia is mainly based on the degree of nuclear atypias. In the paper the histological aspects of renal cell tumours are discussed in considerable detail, while the other more recently employed diagnostic and research procedures (immunotochemistry, cellular kinetics, tumour genetics) are mentioned only briefly.
