  • Nova razvrstitev odontogenih keratocist = A new classification system for odontogenic keratocysts

    Odontogenic keratocysts are cystic lesions of the jaws that were traditionallyclassified as developmental odontogenic cysts. However, some of these lesions have various clinical, pathohistological ... and molecular characteristics that are typical of tumorous tissues. Consequently, in the newclassification scheme adopted by the World Health Organization in 2005, some odontogenic keratocysts are classified as benign odontogenic tumours and grouped under a new name: keratocystic odontogenic tumours. The purpose of this article is to call attention to the new classification of odontogenic keratocysts and outline their main clinical, pathohistological and molecular features.
