  • Uncertainty of measurement in the three-coordinate measuring technique : keynote paper
    Ačko, Bojan, 1961- ; Šostar, Adolf, 1934-2022
Every calibration should provide a measuring (calibration) result with stated uncertainty of measurement. In standardized well defined one-coordinate measuring procedures (usually single purpose) ... uncertainty can be well estimated. In contrast to simple and single-purpose measuring instruments, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) are able to measure a very large family of geometrical parameters. Both the measurement task and the used measurement strategy determine the way errors are introduced in the measurement system andthe way they propagate in the hardware and software of the CMM. Therefore, measuring uncertainty cannot be expressed in a uniform way for the entire range of measuring tasks. Some approaches for expressing uncertainty in coordinate measurements are presented.
