    ǂA ǂmanufacturing process can be characterized based on analysis of acoustic emission and machine vibrations. For this purpose the methods of chaotic dynamics analysis are utilized in the article. ... The analysis is demonstrated on a cutting and grinding process. The detected signals are transformed to chaotic attractors, spectral densities, correlation dimensions and Lyapunov exponents. It is further shown how these characteristics can be applied in on-line estimation of hidden manufacturing parameters. With this aim a non-parametric modeling of empirical relations between chaotic characteristics and manufacturing parameters is performed. The corresponding information processing system has a structure of a self-organized neural network. It is demonstrated how this system can be utilized to estimate a cutting tool wear from AE signals.
