In mass production of a relatively high number of different types of products but not in a high series of ... refrigerators appliances joining of thin plates is a very important technology process. As a result nowadays joining of thin plates gets a lot of attention, especially by introduction of new possibilities induced by development of welding equipment and by new emerging and improved technologies like laser welding, mechnaical joining brazing, adhesive bonding etc. Improvement of joining processes forced by the market is mainly focused on quality and costs. In this paper activities to achieve high quality and low cost joins in the production of thin plates semi manufactures in Slovene company LTH Škofja Loka are presented. Different joining methods are employed to produce high quality joins. In the investigation of possible joining technologies the basic principles are discussed and their main advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. To choose optimal joining method for a certain application different aspects of joins were pointed out and evaluated.
