  • Comparison of 3-D and 2-D simulation methods for calculation of specific transmission heat losses

    Streaming for better thermal comfort in our buildings we should not forget the thermal response of the whole building construction. In usual and simplified calculations of energy consumption for a ... particular building we normally ignore the influence of thermal bridges of different shape and size. By the help of computer simulations we now have the possibility to find out the exact amount of energy losses through the building envelope and define quantitatively the influence of the thermal bridges not only from the energy point of view but also to determine the risk of surface condensation. The paper deals with the calculation of specific transmission heat losses on a sample house by emphasising two different computational methods - three-dimensional (3D) and two-dimensional (2D) - which take into account the influences of thermal bridges on the building envelope. The results of both numerical methods carried out using the computer program NISA were analysed and compared with the simplified methods.
