    Young drivers represent one of the most dangerous, but at the same time also the most meanaced groups of traffic participants. This is the result of their relative inexperience in driving, but mostly ... of their personal and social immaturity. We suppose that at least two are reflected asldo in their attitudes towards different problems of traffic safety. In our research we wanted to find out what these attitudes were, but also if there were any differences between the attitudes of young divers (from 18-25 years) that had been or had not been in penal proceedings because of a criminal act in traffic. Their answers were compared also with the answers of older drivers (older than 25 years) that had or had not been in penal proceedings. Random sample of questioned drivers (N=1000) was used. Their anonymity and informed volountary cooperation in research were secured. Results are discussed in terms of known findings about young dirvers, and current socioeconomic situation in Slovenia, and proposals for safety campaigns aimed at young drivers are made.
