  • Spatially oriented surface water hydrological modelling and GIS
Brilly, Mitja ; Vidmar, Andrej, vodarstvo, 1961- ; Smith, M.
Geographic information systems (GIS) provide a convenient context for coupling hydrological models with spatial entities. Some of these entities are dictated by the internal data storage structure of ... the GIS, while others are based on the hydrological response of a geographic area. Much research has been directed into using GISs and existing hydrological models for input data preparation and presentation of final results. Most types of hydrological modelling cannot be fully implemented in a GIS context due to current inabilities to effectively handle the time dimension. Further research should consider thedevelopment of network functions to fully support hydrological analysis a possible data structure which considers the time dimension
