Butala, Peter, 1953- ; Kleine, Jürgen
The paper focuses development of a survey methodology and instrument for investigation of the state-of-the-art and future trends of assembly processes and structures in several European countries ... involved in the EUREKA-FACTORY project EURAS (EURopean strategy ASsembly cluster). Despite of the recognized importance of assembly as one of the key value-adding manufacturing processes this topic has not been examined yet from the industrial perspective on a larger scale in Europe. The objective of this study is to give some clear answers to industry and institutions in Europe where to invest research efforts and means in order to stay competitive and/or become technology leaders. In this work the elaboration of a survey instrument for the investigation of assembly related topics in European industry, which will enable gathering of assembly related data in manufacturing enterprises is presented. The survey method is being investigated on a small sample of industrial companies within the EURAS partner countries: Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Sweden. The paper reveals first results of this study.
