  • Sensitivity analysis of the human body mechanical model as injury criteria
    Ciglarič, Iztok ...
The same crash scenario can have different effect on different size (male, female, child) occupants. The sensitivity analysis shows the effect of human body geometrical and other parameters on the ... head, chest and pelvis acceleration and helps to evaluate the effects of crashes on different size occupants. We discuss the sensitivity analysis of proposed mechanical models of human body. The direct approach of sensitivity analysis is introduced, which enables to calculate sensitivity coefficients in a straightforward way. The approach is semi-analytical, and based on symbolic derivatives of differential equations of motion. It is shown that sensitivity analysis brings deeper insight into human body injury criteria. The sensitivity coefficients could be incorporated into existing injury criteria such as Severity Index (SI) and Head Injury Criteria (HIC), or they could be used independently.
