    Regional park of Karst lies on the far outskirts of the bay of Triest bordering to Italy. The second smaller part lies on the flysch hills of Brkini. On the south borders to Croatia. The Karst was ... already inhabited in the distant past in the midst's of a versatile 300 to 700 m high plane covered with pine forest and teran -wine-yards. The most important period for the development of this region was the beginning of the 18th century, when the Austro-Hungarian monarchy built a road (1710) and later (1857) the southern railway, which linked the capital of the monarchy with Trieste. Living pulse is typical for the outskirts in the village on the cross-border location between tree nations, last but not least in respect to cultural - historical monuments in Dutovlje, Tomaj, Avber, Lokev, Divača, Rodik, Slivje and others.
