    The paper show a state,organisation and significance of cattle breeding in Slovenia from 1964-1988.The average number of cows bred by private farmers (PF) compared with those bred by social sector ... (SS) milk production per dairy cow, total production and authorised purchase in the period of 25 years are analysed by using some selected statistical methods. The average number of cows bred by PF is for 0.9% higher/year while the average number of cows bred by SS is for 2.3% smaller/year. Total milk production of SS is for 0.5%, and that of PF for 2.6%higher/year on average.A suthorised purchase of milk in SS is for 1.05% and that of PF for 10.05% higher/ year. Correlations between average number of cows and their milk production (p=0.382) and between average number of cows and authorised milk purchase (r=0.806) are significant on the P[ 0,001 level. No mutual logical dependences are proved for SS.
