    Formation of charged clusters in two-dimensional systems, are studied by means of Landau theory of phase transitions. We analyzed shapes and sizes of charged cluster in two-dimensional systems. ... Following previous works, where we proposed that the charge is coupled to the square of the order parameter (Jamei et al. in Phys. Rev. Lett. 94:056805, 2005), we study now the case when the charge density is coupled to the order parameter linearly as suggested Miranda and Kabanov (Physica C 468:358-361, 2008). However, in both cases the long-range Coulomb potential is present and we prove that it is the key factor for the patterns obtained. In particular we show that a stripe phase exists in a wide range of doping.
