  • Lines in a woven jacquard fabric and a garment
Sadar, Almira ; Kočevar, Tanja Nuša
When designing garments, we have to consider visual effects which appear on them because of a used textile pattern. Every pattern gives distinguished features to a garment. Observer's eye follows the ... logic of the pattern, and therefore body's silhouette can be emphasized or blured. The effect of a pattern is more influential when a motif of a pattern is bigger. Larger fabric patterns can be produced by various techniques, for example: by printing, jacquard weaving or knitting. A desired result on a garment can be created by transformation of an available fabric with certain linear pattern. It can also be achieved in another manner, which was chosen for the implementation of our project. A spontaneous drawing was drawn on a chosen part of a garment made of paper, and then by the assistance of computer technology translated into a fabric. Using a CAD (Computer Aided Design) system, a "body drawing" was prepared for the production of a woven jacquard fabric. A CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture)system enabled quick translation of an idea into the fabric, and TIS electronic jacquard enabled the production of a jacquard woven fabric with a repeat which was as wide as a fabric or lines which can embrace almost all body. Appointed quality of a woven fabric, which is the result of chosen yarn, its colour and quality, fabric set and weaving structure, determined the final character of a line on a fabric. At last the fabric was used for theconstruction of the garment and the results of the project were evaluated.
