    Aerogels of different metal oxides are extremely porous high-tech materials with very high specific surface areas. They posses an ultrafine pore size and due to their high porosity, aerogels show a ... few highly interesting physico-chemical properties: very high specific surface area, low bulk density and low thermal conductivity. Preparation of aerogels includes several steps: sol gel synthesis, drying and thermal treatment. Excellent properties of aerogels, obtained with sol-gel synthesis, were preserved with supercritical drying with CO2 and they are a key to different very useful applications of aerogels today.
