  • Correlations between ego states, drama triangle roles and conflict resolution in couples [Elektronski vir]
    Miložič, Mateja ; Žvelc, Gregor
The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation of a person's functional ego states and drama triangle roles with his/her own and partner's style of disagreement and the outcome of ... disagreement. The study included 275 participants (235 women) aged between 18 and 40 years. We used adapted versions of Impasses, Ego States, Drama Roles Inventory - ZESUI and Disagreement questionnaires - DQ. Results showed that Negative Adapted Child and Victim role correlate to less beneficial styles of conflict resolution. Positive Free Child was correlated to more constructive conflict behaviour (more compromise, direct communication, less hostility). Moreover, Positive Critical Parent was positively correlated to participants' direct communication during conflict and Negative Nurturing Parent with participants' behaviours of compromise and regret as the outcome of disagreement. Most of our study limitations derive from psychometric properties of used instruments. In addition, there were more women in our sample, meaning that the results might be gender biased. However, results of our study have great value in understanding the relation between TA constructs and conflict behaviour.
