  • Determination of constitutive soil parameters using consolidation tests
Žlender, Bojan, 1957- ; Macuh, Borut
This paper presents an original procedure for determining the constitutive parameters of soils, supported with the constitutive theory of elasticity for non-isotropic solids, consolidation phenomena ... and creep effects. The parameters of elastic constitutive matrix are determined on the basis of linear theory of elasticity for orthotropic soils, with four or less elastic constitutive parameters. Theoretical basis for consolidation and creep is given. Substitutions of both theories give us constitutive parameters, which describe time dependent stress-strain relationship. The practical application of suggested mathematical model for consolidation and creep consists of three parts. The first part are the laboratory investigations, the second part is the determination of material parameters and the third part is the numerical solution of problem, coinciding with the determination of parameters that depend on the stress state.
