    Design of electromagnetic devices often requites the knowlegde of the effects of time-varying eletromagnetic fields. Important topics are eddy-current losses and the distribution of current in the ... conductor - skin effect. With the development of digital computers problem of time-varying fields can easily be solved by different numerical methods. In the thesis the Finite element method is used. The thesis includes different formulations for the calculation of the time-varying fields by using vector and scalar potentials. The potential field equations derived in this way are solved by the Finite element method. The thesis is limited to two-dimensional problems and to the development of the program solutions for their solving by the Finite element method. The programs were tested on some examples from literature by compering the results.
