  • Family structure along with its social status represents an important factor in pre-school children's motor ability
    Proje, Stane
The several years long research on motor area structure and its connecting link with psychological and morphological characteristics in pre-school children includes, among other aspects, a study of ... parents' status, family structure and social environment of five year old children (+/- fiften days) in relation to their psychomotor ability. Twenty-nine composite motor variables and ten variables of family structure and its social status were used in the research based upon a sample of two hundred and seventy-two children of both sexes. A basic statistical analysis of variables as well as that of variance between individual motor area factor predicts and parents' status variables, characteristic for family structure, were made during the research period. The results show statistically correlation in 36% of the cases analyzed (52), which means that family and social environment significantly affect coordination ability and speed. Analyses in the domain of physical strength did not suggest the above correlation
