  • Interdependent relations between educational and political subsystems of the states-in-transition
    Jelovac, Dejan
The starting point of this paper is the consensually accepted assumption, according to which one of the necessary conditions for the successful functioning of a whole democratic system, is the ... existence of the citizen and critical public opinion. However, they cannot be constituted without the interaction with an educational subsystem, which lays the basis and develops the framework for free communicative activity. The latter can notbe established and increased without the transfer and adoption of the subset of social and cultural values, moral standards, social roles, individual needs and expectations, etc., which are primarily gathered, taught and reared in School. If the system is trapped in transition, which is the actual case in the Central and Eastern post-socialist States, then a paradoxical situation appears in which the socialisation of individuals and groups within the educational subsystem is organised according to cognitive and value patterns (paradigms) of the "not-y system" (i.e. the system still inthe transitional process of its selffoundation). In this respect, there is no basis for a theory possible as yet. Thus, we are left with more or less performative rational strategies of action, the selected paradigms are analised within this paper.
