    Dithiadiazafulvalenes (DTDAF) and their azino analogues, molecules with excellent p-electron donor properties, have shown ability to form molecular materials. N,S-dialkylthiazolium salts are ... versatile precursors for such molecules. In this paper we present the synthesis and transformations of N-(etoxycarbonylmethyl)thiazolium salts into various DTDAF derivatives. A novel approach towards bicyclic 5,6-dihydroazolo[2,3-b]thiazolium salts and our investigation of their synthetic potential as starting materials for the synthesis of various 1t-eIectron donor molecules.
