    The basis for all high-level human-computer interaction applications is a reliable tracking of human body. In the paper we present a system for video-based detection and tracking of two of the most ... important body parts: hands and face. It is based on the fusion of two types of input data: color and range. They are acquired simultaneously by a stereo camera, individually segmented and then joined. Detected objects are tracked through video sequence by a simple distance based algorithm. Results show that by joining two complementary sets of input data substantial improvement is achieved compared to single source. The system detects 70 - 80 % of surfaces of interest.
