  • Modelling of a crystal grain in a weld of ferritic stainless steel

    The paper deals with modelling of the shape and size of a crystal grain in a butt joint of ferritic high-alloy stainless steel made by TIG welding without the addition of material. In the first part, ... an introduction and a literature survey are given, and the problem is pointed out. The main part of the paper is dedicated to modelling of crystal grain. On the basis of macrospecimens taken from three different directions with regard to the welding direction were esteblished. Individual characterstic cases of crystal grains are shown in space. The average grain size was determined. It is described mathematically a function of welding parameters. Finally, conclusions are drawn, findings are stated, and directions for future work are given.
