    Scanning electron microscopy was used to evaluate the morphology of digestive gland epithelium of terrestrial isopods Porcellio scaber (Crustacea: Isopoda). The aim of investigation was to ... characterize normal gland epithelium of test animals for later comparison with animals feed with nanoparticles. Test animals were collected in three unpolluted locations in Slovenia. The test samples were prepared by the standard method and coated with gold- palladium. Observed were shape of the cells, presence and distribution of microvilli, presence of bacteria and extrusion of lipid droplets on the cell surface. Presented are details of gland epithelium at test animals in normal and stressed condition. SEM proved to be fast method and enable investigation of details that are not visible by method of conventional histology and proper method to classify the appearance of digestive gland epithelia morphology.
