    The objective of this research has been to estimate the influence of different magnetizing directions on PM motor' s torque characteristics. In mostanalyses, where motor's characteristics are ... calculated using FE models, the magnetizing direction of permanent magnets (PM) is considered to be radialor paral1el. It is also relatively easy to consider the se two magnetizing direction s in the FE modeIs. On the other hand, in many applications of PM motors the magnetizing directions are not determined so precisely, since the magnetizing process is performed when the permanent magnets are already glued onto the rotor' s surface. To incorporate this procedure into the numerical analysis, the analysis has been performed in two steps. In the first step the FE model of the magnetizing device has been built, thus, simulating the magnetizing procedure of the permanent magnets. Thereby the values of magnetizing directions of each PM's finite element have been obtained and us ed in the second step where the motor' s torque characteristics have been calculated using a 2D FE model of the PM motor under research.
