  • Adults economic model and values : a case of Slovenia
Polič, Marko, 1946- ; Novak Zabukovec, Vlasta
Adult economic model and values study, proposed by David Leiser in 1995, should be conducted in a number of European and other countries. Here are reported Slovenian data. The same for ... questionnaires, namely the Economic model questionnaire (Leiser and Briskman-Mazliah, 1996), the Economic values inventory (Ingels and O'Brien, 1984), the Locus of control test (Rotter, 1996), and Belief in a just world, short version (Dalbert, 1984) were used. Questionnaires were applied to four groups, three proposed by Leiser (employees, self-employed and employers) and a group of unemployed people, that differin their economic role. Subjects in each group were randomly selected. Questionnaires were sent to them by post or delivered personally, and in all cases self-administered. About 100 questionnaires for each group was sent, but the returning rate for the groups differ, the smallest being for self-employed group. Beside common descriptive analysis, results were alsoanalysed with the help of structural equation modelling. Theorethically based causal relationaships regarding economic values and model were tested byLISREL program (Joreskog and Sorbom, 1993). This program can efficiently estimate causal effects and test complex causal theories, what is shown also in this study. While demographic variables did not play any important role in the model, a simple model connecting BJW, LOC and Estimation of changes in economic situation on one side, with theEconomic model and two factors of the Economic value inventory was established.
