    Bacteriol spot of peaches, coused by Xanthomonos arboricola pv. pruni (Smith) Vauterin et al. is listed on ILA.11 Slovene quarantine list. It was tronsferred to this list in 1996 after symptoms ... oppeared on plums of Chinese Japanese origin in 1992 in surroundings of Miren in Vipavo Valley. After 1996 the disease broke out in peach orchords in the vicinity of Bilje, Bukovica andPrvačino. Currendy it is present in Vipava Volley and southern ports of Brdo. Development of symptoms is dependent on the cultivar, weather, ogricultural and plonl health measures. In 1999, the identity of the causativeagent wos confirmed using laboratory melhods. The paper describes bacterial spot symproms, epidemiology, current spread in Slovenia and diagnostic methods. The possibilities of disease control with phytosonitary measures and treatments with copper fungicides in the period of leaf drop ond during winter period ore discussed.
