  • Emerging technologies for education : revised selected papers

    The 4th International Symposium on Emerging Technologies for Education (SETE 2019) was held in conjunction with the 18th International Conference on Web-based Learning (ICWL 2019). The symposium has ... traditionally been organized together with ICWL since 2016, aiming to gather a variety of tracks and workshops on hot topics in technology enhanced learning. This years conference was hosted by the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, Germany, during September 23-25, 2019. Researchers, scholars, students and professionals in the field of educational technology from all over the world gathered in the beautiful city of Magdeburg to share and exchange their state-of-the-art outputs and ideas. A total of 34 submissions were received for the special tracks. After a rigorous review process, in which each paper was evaluated by at least 3 members of the Program Committee (PC), 10 papers were selected as full papers, yielding an acceptance rate of 29%. In addition, 6 more submissions were selected as short papers. These contributions cover latest findings in various areas, such as: virtual reality and game-based learning; learning analytics; K-12 education; language learning; design, model, and implementation of e-learning platforms and tools; digitalization and industry 4.0; pedagogical issues; and practice and experience sharing. Furthermore, five workshops were organized at SETE 2019: 12th International Workshop on Social and Personal Computing for Web-Supported Learning Communities (SPeL 2019), Third International Symposium on User Modeling and Language Learning (UMLL 2019), Second International Workshop on Educational Technology for Language and Translation Learning (ETLTL 2019), First Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Education - Teachers Role for Student-centered Teaching (AIE-TRST 2019), and I Search Therefore I Learn (ISTIL 2019). These workshops included a total of 24 accepted papers.
