    The results of numerous research work have shown that smoking accelarates the development of aterosclerosis (especially of coronary arteries), the consequence of which are ishaemic heart disorders, ... among them also myocardial infarction. The influence of smoking on the occurence of acute myocardial infarction is described, especially from the point of duration of smoking, quantity of smoked tobacco per day, smoking of different kinds of cigarettes, the relation between age and smoking, the relation between cessation of smoking and relative risk, influence of smoking on other risk factors, and education level of smokers. It has been proved that smoking is one of the mainfactors of acute myocardial infarction; therefore, the importance of permanent health education, ideally carried out by a professor of health education and a nurse in assistance of other health workers, is stressed.
