    Background. The paper is an overview of different scintigraphic imaging techniques for detection of inflammation and different methods of radiolabeling of inflammatory elements. Special attention is ... focused on radiolabelled leucocytes, that are the most frequently used tracers for scintigraphic imaging of inflammation. The paper is concerned also with some newer methods of radiolabeling that are more accurate in differentiating infection from nonbacterial inflammation. There is some overall comparison in sensitivitiy and specificity of different methods and the most frequent indicationsfor imaging. Conclusions. There is an increase of inflammatory diseases all around the world in the latest time, so there is to be expected that scintigraphic metods of infammantory will be increasing also, because of development of newer radiopharmaceuticals that enable more accurate and spesific scintigraphic imaging of inflammantory diseases.
