  • Treatment of nasal polyps = Zdravljenje nosne polipoze

    We performed a comprehensive long-term follow-up study after simple polypectomy with snare including 238 patients, treated for nasal polyps between January 1984 and December 1991 in a geographically ... well defined ENT practice. Patients were followed for 1-8 years after initial surgery. In the group of 180 patients entering the study with first time polypectomy, 65% of patients needed only one polypectomy during the entire observation period, 4% needed 5 or more polypectomies. In the more severe group of 103 patients, having polypectomy before entrance in the study, 45% needed only one polypectomy during the observation period, 8% needed 5 or more polypectomies. Based on our data only minor surgery i. e. simple polypectomy and/or medical treatment is needed in the vast majority of patients with nasal polyp. Other treatment modalities of nasal polyps will be discussed.
