  • Magnetna resonanca pri bolnikih z epilepsijo = Magnetic resonance imaging in epilepsy
    Pečarič-Meglič, Nuška
An epileptic seizure is a paroxysmal event which starts because of an abnormalelectric discharge, which is triggered in an epileptogenic focus. Resistant complex partial epilepsy can be successfully ... surgically treated. Neuroradiological methods play a crucial role in the contemporary evaluation of patients with epilepsy. Magnetic resonanec imaging is the most important method for the detection of structural lesions. Special magnetic resonance imaging techniques in modified planes must be used to achieve greater sensitivity for brain lesions. The functional MR has an increasingly importantrole in the preoperative detection of functional areas of the brain. The characteristics and localization of typical pathological lesions in resistant complex partial epilepsy and methods for MR evaluation are described. A two year period of work with MR according to the protocol for epilepsy at the Neuroradiological Department, Ljubljana University Medical Centre, is evaluated.
