  • Proti meticilinu odporni Staphylococcus aureus: pogostost in ukrepi v Kliničnem centru = Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: epidemiology and control at the University medical center
    Škerl, Marjeta
Staphylococcus aureus may be a part of the normal bacterial population, but itcan also cause an infectious disease and is a major nosocomial pathogen. Although methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus ... aureus (MRSA) is not more virulent than other staphylococci, it may represent a therapeutic problem. Monitoring the incidence of MRSA in patients admitted to the University Medical Center, Ljubljana, Slovenia, has shown a rate of 0.6 cases per 100 patients. This figure includes patients who are either infected or colonized with the bacteria and acquired he pathogen either prior to or following admission to the UMC. The incidence varies among individual units. T'he measures recommended by the Infection Control Committee have led to a decline in the number of new MRSA cases.
