  • The implementation of ILL in COBISS

    This paper outlines the development and implementation of the interlibrary loan module (ILL module) in the COBISS system, which links and supports functions and activities of libraries in Slovenia, ... and was developed by the Institute of Information Science (IZUM). As the development of the new module is closely related to the transition of the COBISS system to a new technological platform, the paper also presents a multi-tier architecture of the new Java-based COBISS3 application and the framework developed and applied for COBISS3 by IZUM. The COBISS3/Interlibrary Loan module is linked with the legacy system that runs on the Open VMS platform, and is available to all COBISS full member libraries assuming the role either of a supplying or a requesting library. The application supports the performance of all key ILL procedures and includes system defined and XML-generated reports adapted to the relevant IFLA standards.
