  • Trendi odpornosti bakterij proti antibiotikom v Kliničnem centru v Ljubljani = Trends of bacterial resistance at the University medical center in Ljubljana
    Müller-Premru, Manica ...
Trends of antimicrobial resistance were followed by comparing the rates of resistance of the most frequent bacteria isolated at the University Medical Center in Ljubljana, in the years 2000 and 2001. ... The total methicillin resistance of Staphylococcus aureus decreased from 18% in 2000 to 17.2% in 2001; resistance in blood isolates decreased from 28.3% to 14.7%, in wound isolates from 18.3% to 17.3% and in tracheal aspirate isolates from 40.7% to 38.3%. Resistance of Escherichia coli slowly increased, but resistance of Klebsiella spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa decreased. Resistance of pneumococci from the blood to penicillin decreased from 14.3% to 12.5%; however, in respiratory samples it increased from 12.2% to 14.1% (most isolates exhibited a low resistance level). Erythromycin resistance of pneumococci increased from 10.3% to 13%. Resistance of Enterococcus faecium togentamicin increased. Among enteric pathogens, resistance to ciprofloxacin increased in Campylobacter spp., and to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole in Shigella spp., while Salmonella spp. remained susceptible.
