    All over the world as well as in Slovenia, the medication consumption is increasing, as are accordingly also the medication costs. Several costs containment measures in order to limit drug ... prescribing to the debit of compulsory health insurance have been introduced. The first step to improve the situation is to analyse one's own drug prescribing pattern. In this study all the drugs prescribed by the author during the period of four weeks were recorded, together with the related diagnosis: The results were compared with the data from "automatie processing of prescriptions" in Slovenia for the year2000. Statistically significant differences between both prescribing patterns were confirmed by statistical analysis. These differences can be explained by different factors. A detailed analysis of possible reasons could be the objective of the further research.
