  • Kinetics of basic endurance and basic speed endurance characteristics throughout one olympic season in white water slalom kayak = Časovni potek vrednosti kazalcev osnovne vzdržljivosti in osnovne hitrostne vzdržljivosti skozi eno olimpijsko tekmovalno sezono v slalomu kajaka na divjih vodah

The aim of the study was to ascertain whether the one and/or bi-cycle training periodization assessed from main training characteristics was accompanied by similar one and/or bi-cycle adaptation ... assessing by using basic endurance and basic speed endurance characteristics. Two groups of paddlers of national team in slalom wild water kayak: a OLYMPIC group of 3 paddlers and NONOLYMPIC group of 4 paddlers who did not qualified to Olympic games, participated in the one year follow up throughout the Olympic competition season. OLYMPIC group showed a bi-cycle and NONOLYMPIC group one-cycle training periodization. They performed a two tests several times throughout the Olympic season. In the incremental testing protocol (ITP) the velocity determined by Lactate Threshold (v[sub]LT), Onset of Blood Lactate Accumulation (v[sub]OBLA) and maximal velocity (v[sub]max) characteristics were used. The second was test of "Eight", where the time of completing the test (t[sub]8), heart rate (HR[sub]8), and lactate concentration (LA[sub]8) were used. The results showed that velocities v[sub]LT, v[sub]OBLA and v[sub]max did not differenciate both groups. In OLYMPIC group periodization showed unexpected monocyclic response with very small changes. In NONOLYMPIC group the paddlers response periodization was closer to monocyclic expectations. It seems that only pH[sub]min from other parametes showed expected monocyclic response in NONOLYMPIC group. The bi-cyclic paddlers response occurred in OLYMPIC group, however the first cycle can not be explained easily by characteristics of training. Time t[sub]8 fluctuated in bi-cycle manner in both groups. This was expected for OLYMPIC group but was not accompanied by monocyclic changes of training in NONOLYMPIC group. From other characteristicsthe LA[sub]8 and pH[sub]8 showed expected fluctuations in both groups however with less intensity of pH[sub]8. Anyway, the results in test "Eigh" did not differentiate both groups in spite of their different training periodization. The study showed an absent of typically significant relationship between training periodization and periodization of selected characteristics of basic paddlers performance in a two groups of the highest level of international wild water kayakers. Therefore, the practically application of training based periodization seems not to be always accurate on top level sport.
