    The most important manifestation of transplacentary transmitted autoimmune - mediated inflammation in fetuses of anti - Ro/SSA and/or anti - La/SSB positive mothers is a development of complete ... congenital heart block. Althoughprognosis for the majority of patients is favourable, almost one thirdof them expire in utero or in early neonatal period. It is possible to diagnose, and in some cases even to treat a disease in utero, so the effort should be made to recognize those patients as soon as possible. The main diagnostic tool is fetal echocardiography Protocols to follow - up patients with prenataly-established diagnosis of complete autoimmune heart block and women with increased risk to give a birth to a child with complete heart block, are described.
