  • 38-letna ljubiteljica sira s sumom na možganski vaskulitis = 38-year-old cheese-lower with suspected cerebral vasculitis
    Bombek, Maja ; Trampuž, Andrej
Background. This study presents a 38 year-old patient who presented with a fewweeks lasting headache, double vision, neck pain, nausea and vomiting, paresthesiae of her face and arms and aphasia. ... Patientš physical and neurological examination on admission was unremarkable. Results. Cerebrospinalfluid findings showed a lymphocytic pleocytosis and increased protein concentration with presence of oligoclonal banding. Magnetic resonanceimaging of the head showed multiple subcortical lesions. Conclusions. This study describes complications due to initial false diagnosis and discusses the differential diagnosis of chronic meningitis. As brucellosisusually presents in a very nonspecific manner, the diagnosis can bedifficult. The primary pitfall is failure to consider possible infection with Brucella in a patient with history that suggests a possible source of infection. Therefore, a detailed history and knowledge of the patient exposures in the recent past is essential.
